I never knew scottish music that well, but a month ago i bought “the glengarry collection” by Aonghas Grant. Beautiful tunes, so i started looking for more scottish music and landed on your site. Thanks for making the effort of putting all this music on internet with video and sheet music! I’ve played all the slow airs, j”ll try some reels next (quite a challenge for a beginner like me). Greets from the Netherlands
Thanks for your comment, Marieke. Aonghas’ is a great collection. I’m glad you’re finding my tutorials helpful. Don’t worry about playing the reels too fast in the beginning! Best wishes, R
Thanks for sharing your tutorials publicly. I’m wondering, for a beginner like me, would you put them in any order of difficulty?
Thanks for your message, Dawn. Good ones to start with, in no particular order, are ## 2, 4, 17, 18, 19, 21, 29, 35, 43, & 49. Hope this helps. Best, R
What a fantastic resource you have built here. I’m a relative beginner, but I look forward to exploring your tutorials in more detail. Thanks again.
Thank you for your blog. I’m a Spanish fiddler & have been playing Irish stuff for some 20 years, some years ago turned to Scottish fiddle and have to say there’s no way back 🙂
Thanks again for the resources you made available – specially the links in your Twitter for the Scott Skinner collections! –
All the best, Fer
Happy New Year! Thanks for such a useful resource. It is my personal tradition to play Scottish fiddle music every New Year’s Eve and this year your music has enabled me to add several new pieces. It is driving my Scottish Terrier crazy, but she has not heard me play before (I hope that’s the reason!).
Where did your tutorials go, Ronnie? I really have been enjoying learning the tunes, and now those pages are gone.
